Casimir Bationo
Casimir Balibié Bationo(CasziB), a contemporary painter was in 1982 in Adjamé, Ivory Coast. He is from the Lélé ethnic group in northwestern Burkina Faso. Casimir currently lives and works in Burkina Faso.
After several painting courses, drawing of living model, photography, light and animated cinema, he trained in contemporary painting for 3 years and learned decisive techniques for the practice of his art.
His inspiration and imagination feed on the various human and artistic encounters that his "nomadic" life allows him between the multicultural continent of Africa and his incursions into Europe. His painting has a universal dimension; constantly moving as the world is. Through colorful and rhythmic atmospheres, faces made of shadows and contrasts, CasziB transcribes a strong Africa in action, its values, as well as the Western culture.
Discovering CasziB.'s painting is like traveling through stories and imagining the destinies of those piercing-eyed faces. One ventures into a haunting journey and at the same time filled with grace, full of delicacy. CasziB. use of references are current and specific, but also totally universal and tell the story of all. The images show a constant agitation, in a movement of blur and colors in profusion as if the dreams of a whole life took shape here and now of immediate, obvious form.
